Blizzard Update: 21 hours without electricity

Scrappy the Poodle, running in the snow

Scrappy the Poodle, running in the snow

Our electricity just came back on after being down for 21 hours. I am holding my breath, praying it doesn’t go off again.

We had 70 mile per hour winds during the height of the blizzard, according to the local weather report. I have been in a couple of hurricanes and the wind sounded, and felt, just like a hurricane.

A street light blew off a pole across the street from our house. The wheelchair ramp in our back yard blew over and over and landed up against the fence. Our privacy fence blew down in several places. Our mailbox was blown away. And a lot of shingles blew off the roof. But that’s okay, we have already ordered the materials to put on a new roof as soon as weather allows.

There are snow drifts taller than my head outside our house. Our truck is stuck in the snow, as are many other cars and trucks along our street.

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us! Although the outside temperature was in the teens, we were able to stay warm enough inside our house, thanks to the gas stove.

This has been an experience…..
